Oven-Baked Asparagus and Bacon

An easy and quick recipe, perfect to accompany main courses or to serve as finger food.
12 large asparagus spears
12 slices of Citterio bacon
Extra virgin olive oil, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Remove the tough ends of the asparagus and, if needed, lightly peel them with a vegetable peeler. Wrap each asparagus spear with a slice of bacon, trying to cover it almost entirely.
Place the wrapped asparagus on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, brush with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, and sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper.
Bake in the oven at 200°C (392°F) for about 15 minutes, until the bacon is crispy and golden. If you like, you can add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan during the last 2 minutes of baking.
Arrange the asparagus on a serving plate and enjoy them hot, perhaps accompanied by a yogurt sauce or a flavored mayonnaise.
